MUSICIAN, POET, MIX ENGINEER, ELECTRICIAN, WORKING CLASS HERO
Nadeem Gibran Salaam is a mix engineer and videographer running sound all over NYC weekly. The former Punk Rocker and Buddhist cut his teeth on the Lower East Side and is a native New Yorker hailing from Brooklyn. As an entrepreneur, and a small business owner, his working-class background, riotous life experience, and success outside of the Ivy League Corporate-PC Elite is a breath of fresh air in a time of homogeneity and mass information lacking everyday wisdom.
As a former Ground-ops from an aviation family, his music ties go back to CBGB and gritty punk rock NYC. Born in Parkslope Brooklyn, the son of an MTA Train Conductor, Nadeem teaches Hood-smart Working Class lessons on life forged from Public Library self-education in psychology and philosophy. His pursuit of healing childhood trauma and class violence drove him to read the greats, write alone, tour nationally with various bands, and launch a music luthier business.
As a published author, he is on a mission to revive the fire of independent thought and further the vision of the self-actualized man, not through neutralizing him but invigorating the depth of his soul and role as head of the family and careful steward of his ship. He has worked on an upcoming film about the band Metallica, mixes live orchestras and choirs weekly, hosts a podcast, has published two books and 7 albums, and owns his own business, a radio guitar amp manufacturer in stores all over Brooklyn and Long Island.
Join the Musician, Author, and Engineer on a mission to build the soul and mind of his fellow Americans.

WRITING
17 years ago I walked into the hallowed doors of CBGB, grabbed my guitar, and began a music career on the Lower East Side. While I've been blessed that my projects have had incredible success, not all of them have survived, but the memories do. Thanks to Bands Do BK, some of my music history is offically in print and on shelves forever. From living in a van on tour, opening for Nine Days,... In Bands do BK, Sam Sumpter explores Brooklyn from the unique perspective of the bands who live it and love it. Equal parts oral history, guidebook, and music-fan memoir, Sumpter shares behind-the-scenes stories, sound bites, and recommendations on places to visit from hundreds of featured interviewed bands—a hot slice of New York City indie chronicling the people and places that define it.
